Disaster Recovery

1. Off Site Backup Option:
Whether your data resides on a Standard Windows 2003 Server or an SQL server, NLI has your back. NLI offers industry leading offsite backup for Standard Windows 2003 Servers, SQL Servers, Unix/Linux Servers, or workstations. Sleep easy knowing that NLI backs up you files five times nightly. Also, in the event of a disaster, you can retrieve your files instantly by going to a secure site and downloading all the backup data.
Off Site Backup is designed to backup your DATA – NOT your Operating System or applications. In case of a total system failure – you will need to:

1. Procure a new PC or Server (whichever failed)
2. Reload the Operating System (and make sure you have the CDs, Disks, keys, etc…)
3. Reload the Service Packs that are applicable
4. Reload the applications (if applications were loaded)
5. Redo the User (System State) Active Directory (if it is a server)
6. Redo the Print mapping
7. THEN you are ready to restore the DATA FILES.

Pricing on Off Site Backup is:
            $135.00 A Month per Server + $3.00 per Gig
            $45.00 A Month per Workstation + $3.00 per Gig
A onetime non recurring Setup Fee of $150.00 will apply for ALL Servers and Workstations. (Regardless of how many servers or workstations you have)

2. Bare Metal Backups (LAN SIDE):
Unlike your typical off site backup, Bare Metal Backups backup the ENTIRE SERVER or workstation. With Bare Metal Backups you can backup multiple servers and workstations. At this time, only WINDOWS Servers and WINDOWS based Workstations are supported. (No support for Mac or Linux Servers as of now)
Full or incremental backups can be stored on an external hard drive, NAS, or SAN (storage must be purchased separately) and can be scheduled regularly or on demand through an intuitive web based management console. The web based management console provides real time automated disk backup, disk imaging, file level backup, and bare metal restore for Windows 2003 Servers or XP Pro/Vista Workstations.
System States are also backed up making restoration possible for operating systems, business applications, user settings, drivers, and data at the same time. Off site backups generally take less than an hour to complete and no complicated or troublesome backup tapes are required. The entire backup process can be managed from a web console or remotely (even the restore!). Restoring dissimilar servers or dissimilar workstations after a complete failure is possible too. You can recover a single file or restore an entire crashed workstation to a brand new workstation. The backup agent can also make incremental backups, including SQL and Exchange databases. However, the agent is NOT capable of mailbox level backups. Backups from software raid can be restored to hardware raid and vice versa. The offsite backup makes a copy of either the full volume or selected files, making it possible to restore to a different raid configuration or even a single drive. This service is divided into LAN or WAN Services.

LAN Side off Site Backups
The LAN side option backs up your files at your local facility to a Hard Drive, SAN, or NAS. You MUST purchase your own SAN or NAS for the LAN and/or WAN backup options. You cannot do the WAN service without a LAN.
You can also add a Stand by Server for as low as $50 Per Month. This means that we will GUARANTEE that we will have a server in stock that you can use in case of an emergency. The server is brought to you in case of a failure – and that gives you time to repair your current server or purchase a new one – or you can even purchase the Stand By Server (at current WHOLESALE COST). Currently we stock HP Quad Core XEONs with Raid Drives. This configuration insures that it will be sufficient for the most common applications today.

This price does NOT include the required purchase of backup storage.(i.e. External Hard Drives, NAS or SAN). NLI strongly recommends the use of fast SANs to do this. But for one Server, a USB Based External Hard Drive will work just fine. More than 1 server will require a LAN based SAN or NAS.

3. Bare Metal Backups (WAN Side):
The WAN Side Bare Metal Backup option requires that you purchase the LAN Side backup feature (see Item #2). This option complements the LAN side backup feature by ADDING a SAN at our facility. This allows the synchronization of the 2 SANs. (The one in YOUR office and the one in OUR office)
The Wan Side Bare Metal Backup is designed so that if you have a disaster in your building (i.e. Fire, Flood, etc) you CAN restore to a DISSIMILAR Server (or workstation). We would in essence bring you the SAN (that you have purchased and that you OWN and that is hosted in our facility) and we will be ready to restore to an existing server or to a stand by server that you can also have on reserve.
